What the Sales.Travel insurance covers

AGAlina GromovaUpdated 16 June 20267 min read13 460 read

The base Sales.Travel policy covers medical expenses abroad up to € 50,000, including COVID treatment, and already meets Schengen requirements. On top you can add the “sport” and “trip cancellation” options — here’s everything that is and isn’t covered.

In short

Included: medical up to € 50,000, COVID, evacuation and repatriation, baggage loss and delay, civil liability. Options: “sport” and “trip cancellation”. Not included: injuries while intoxicated, flare-ups of undeclared chronic conditions, extreme sport without the option. Abroad, call the 24/7 assistance first, then see a doctor, and keep every receipt.

01 / CoverWhat the policy includes

The core of the policy is medical: outpatient and inpatient treatment, ambulance, emergency dentistry, prescribed medication. Limits depend on the programme and country.

Add options in advanceThe “sport” option is needed for skiing, diving, surfing and trekking — without it a slope injury won’t be covered. The “trip cancellation” option works only if added before the event occurs, so take it together with the tour.

02 / ExclusionsWhat is not covered

  • Injuries while intoxicated — by alcohol or drugs.
  • Flare-ups of chronic conditions not declared when the policy was issued.
  • Extreme sport without the “sport” option — and professional competitions.
  • Planned treatment and cosmetic procedures, and pregnancy beyond the stated term.
  • Self-treatment and expenses not agreed with the assistance service.
Declare chronic conditions honestlyIf you have a chronic condition, declare it when buying the policy — otherwise a flare-up abroad won’t be covered. Some programmes cover chronic flare-ups via a separate option; clarify it before the trip.

03 / ClaimsHow to use it abroad

1

Call the 24/7 assistance first

Before seeing a doctor, call the round-the-clock assistance line from the policy. Give the policy number, country and what happened — they’ll direct you to a clinic and open a case.

2

Get help as directed

Where possible, be treated at the clinic the assistance names — then the bill is paid directly, without your involvement.

3

Keep all receipts and documents

If you paid yourself, collect bills, receipts, statements and prescriptions. Without them the reimbursement on return won’t be processed.

4

File the reimbursement request

On return, attach the documents to the request in your account — the insurer reimburses the expenses within the limit.

Save the assistance number in your phoneBefore departure, add the assistance phone and policy number to your contacts and screenshot the policy. In an emergency you won’t have to dig through email on a weak connection.

04 / RequirementsSchengen, the UAE and other countries

For a Schengen visa insurance is mandatory, with a minimum cover of € 30,000, valid across the whole Schengen area for the entire trip. Our base limit of € 50,000 exceeds this requirement.

For the UAE a policy isn’t always formally required, but healthcare there is expensive and insurance is strongly recommended. Some countries set their own minimums — check the destination’s requirements before buying.

05 / FAQFrequently asked

Does the insurance cover COVID-19?

Yes, COVID treatment is part of the base policy’s medical cover — within the overall limit, like any acute illness.

Can I get my tour money back if I fall ill before departure?

Yes, but only with the “trip cancellation” option and a documented reason. Without that option, cancellation due to illness isn’t reimbursed by the insurance.

I ski — is the base policy enough?

No, skiing and other active pursuits need the “sport” option. Without it the insurer won’t cover a slope injury.

What if I see a doctor without calling assistance?

Unapproved expenses may be refused or only partly reimbursed. Whenever possible, call assistance before seeking treatment and keep the receipts.
