Sheremetyevo: terminals and transfer

ASAnna SokolovaUpdated 14 May 20266 min read18 360 read

Sheremetyevo is split into two clusters: the Northern one (Terminal B) and the Southern one (Terminals C1/C2, D, E, F). A free underground train runs between them — the trip takes about 4 minutes.

In short

Terminal B is the Northern cluster (mostly domestic flights and some Aeroflot international). Terminals C1/C2, D, E, F are the Southern cluster. A free underground train (~4 min) connects the clusters. The Aeroexpress arrives at the Southern cluster. For an international connection allow generally 1.5—2 hours. Which airline uses which terminal — check your booking, schedules change.

01 / TerminalsMap of the terminals

The airport is arranged as two groups of buildings. The Northern cluster is Terminal B. The Southern cluster combines Terminals C1, C2, D, E and F. The exact airline assignment changes, so rely on the details in your booking.

02 / The trainUnderground train between clusters

The Northern (B) and Southern (C/D/E/F) clusters are linked by a free underground train. The journey takes about 4 minutes; it runs frequently and operates airside, so connecting passengers don’t need to re-clear security.

1

Find the Inter-Terminal signs

After leaving the aircraft, follow the signs to the inter-terminal passage/train. At Sheremetyevo they are duplicated in English.

2

Board the train

The train runs between the Northern and Southern clusters for free and frequently. The ride is about 4 minutes.

3

Walk to your terminal

Within the Southern cluster, Terminals C/D/E/F are linked by walkways. Follow the signs to your gate.

Aeroexpress goes to the Southern clusterThe Aeroexpress from Moscow arrives at the Southern cluster. If your flight departs from Terminal B (Northern), switch to the free inter-terminal train after the Aeroexpress.

03 / ConnectionHow much time to allow

The minimum connection time depends on the flight types and whether you change clusters. A guideline for an international connection is usually from 1.5—2 hours. If your booking has a shorter connection, that’s the carrier’s decision, and if you miss it through their fault you’ll be rebooked.

  • Within one cluster the transfer is quick — on foot following the signs.
  • Between clusters, add time for the inter-terminal train (~4 min) and walking.
  • Switching domestic↔international may involve passport control — leave a buffer.
Tight connection — call aheadIf you have less than 1.5 hours to your connecting flight and need to change clusters, it’s risky. Contact us on 8 800 1000-646: we’ll guide you through the terminals and, if needed, find a flight with a more comfortable connection.

04 / ParkingParking and access

Each cluster has its own car parks — short-stay by the terminals and cheaper long-stay further out with a shuttle. Rates and zones differ by terminal, so choose a car park near the cluster you’re flying from.

05 / FAQFrequently asked

B is the Northern cluster, E is the Southern one. A free underground train (~4 min) links them, then walk within the Southern cluster following the signs.

How much time should I leave for a connection?

For an international connection, usually from 1.5—2 hours, especially if you change clusters. Within one cluster, less is enough.

Where does the Aeroexpress arrive?

At the Southern cluster. If your flight is from Terminal B, take the free inter-terminal train after the Aeroexpress.
