How to change the name or passport on a booking

ASAnna SelivanovaUpdated 16 May 20265 min read9 480 read

The name on the ticket must match your passport down to the character. We fix a typo or transliteration free within the first 48 hours, but handing the ticket to another person is generally not allowed — it’s a personal document.

In short

Open your booking in your personal account → passenger → “Edit details”. A typo or transliteration is fixed free within 48 hours of payment. Changing to a different person is usually impossible on air tickets — you need a new ticket. A new passport — the number is usually updated free, and often it’s enough to bring both documents to the airport.

01 / TypoTypo and transliteration

A small error — one or two letters, swapped given name and surname, a difference in Latin transliteration — is fixed without reissuing the ticket. Within 48 hours of payment the correction is usually free; later the airline may charge a small fee.

Transliteration is a common caseDifferent passports spell one name differently: Iuliia or Yuliya, Sergei or Sergey. The ticket must carry the spelling from the passport you’ll travel with.

02 / Another personTransfer a ticket to someone else

An air ticket is personal: a full name change to a different person is generally not permitted. Correcting a typo is one thing; replacing the passenger is quite another. If someone else must fly, you usually return the old ticket (per fare rules) and buy a new one for the new passenger.

The name must match the passport down to the characterA single extra space or a Latin “O” instead of a zero — and you may be turned away at the border or at boarding. Check the given name, surname and document number letter by letter well before departure.

03 / New passportGot a new passport after booking

If the passport was simply renewed by expiry and the name stayed the same — that’s not a passenger change. The document number in the booking is usually updated free, and often you don’t even need to change it in advance: just bring both passports to the airport — the old one (used to buy) and the new one.

Tip for connecting flightsIf the itinerary has several airlines or you’ll use online check-in, it’s better to update the passport number in the booking in advance — then the system won’t block check-in over a document mismatch.

Enter the data exactly as in the passport

Given name and surname — in Latin strictly as on the passport page; the number — without spaces if there are none in the document.

3

Attach a scan if asked

For a surname or passport change the system may request a photo of the page — this speeds up the airline’s verification.

4

Confirm and wait for the update

Free edits apply within minutes; if a fee is required we show the amount first. An updated e-ticket arrives by email.

05 / FAQFrequently asked

I swapped given name and surname — is that a problem?

No, it’s a typical fix. Within the first 48 hours we correct it free; reach out before departure without delay.

Can I gift a ticket to a relative?

An air ticket is personal, so generally no. You return it under the fare rules and buy a new one in the relative’s name.

I got married and have a new surname — what now?

If your passport already shows the new surname, we update the booking using the marriage certificate, usually with no fee. The key is the ticket matching your departure passport.

I bought with the old passport but travel on the new one — will I be allowed?

Yes, if the name matches. Update the passport number in the booking in advance or bring both documents to the airport.
