Tour itinerary and excursions

ISIgor SedovUpdated 14 May 20266 min read7 480 read

The itinerary is the agreement on how your trip will unfold. It is laid out day by day: where you stay overnight, what you see, when the coach leaves and how much free time is left. Reading it before you fly means no surprises on arrival — and a chance to decide which excursions are worth adding.

In short

The itinerary states what is included (the day-by-day route, guide, entrance tickets, some excursions) and what is optional for a surcharge. The order of days may shift due to weather and logistics, so focus on what's in the package, not just the sequence. Your full itinerary is always available under My bookings.

01 / StructureHow to read the day-by-day plan

Each day in the itinerary is its own block: transfers, the overnight hotel, sightseeing and clearly marked free time. Watch three things: when the day starts, what's covered without a surcharge, and where long drives sit between stops. That instantly shows you the real pace of the tour.

  • Day-by-day route — the sequence of cities and sightseeing stops.
  • What's included — guide, entrance tickets, the listed excursions, meals by day.
  • Free time — hours when you decide what to do.
  • Optional add-ons — excursions and activities you can book separately for a surcharge.

02 / IncludedWhat's in the price, and what isn't

Some excursions are part of the tour price and run with the group and a guide. Others are marked optional — offered on the spot or in advance — and are paid for separately. Here's how the itinerary usually splits up.

ItemUsually includedUsually a surcharge
Guide and group escortYes
Listed route excursionsYes
Entrance tickets per the programmeOften yesSometimes separate
Extra excursions and activitiesYes, optional
Meals outside the programmeUsually on your own
Check the 'What's included' blockEvery tour card has separate 'Included' and 'Not included' lists. If an excursion isn't named under 'Included', treat it as optional for a surcharge — even if it appears in the route description.

03 / OptionsOptional excursions: how to add them

1

Pick the excursion in advance

Optional excursions are easier to plan before departure — that leaves time to agree the day and check it doesn't clash with the included programme.

2

Confirm the price and terms

Add-on prices depend on the destination and season. Confirm the exact price and what's included with your manager or via the @sales_travel_bot bot.

3

You can also add them on arrival

Many excursions are offered by the local guide during the trip. That's fine, but popular options are best booked early — places are limited.

Tip: keep some days freeDon't fill every day with add-ons. The free time in the itinerary is your buffer for rest, independent walks and spontaneous plans. One or two packed days in a row are more tiring than they look.

04 / ChangesCan the itinerary be changed

Much depends on the tour type. On beach tours the itinerary is flexible: the core is the hotel and relaxation, and you add excursions as you wish. On sightseeing tours the route is usually fixed — it's built around the group, the transport and pre-purchased tickets, so you typically can't change it on your own.

The order of days may shiftThe order of excursions and transfers may change due to weather, road conditions or venue opening hours. The contents stay the same — only the sequence shifts. This is normal practice, not a cut to your tour.

If you want to change the tour itself — the dates, hotel or who is travelling — that's a separate process. See the terms and deadlines in our guide on changing a tour, or contact us at 8 800 1000-646.

05 / FAQFrequently asked questions

Where can I see my full tour itinerary?

In My bookings in your account — the itinerary is attached to your booking with all the day-by-day details.

How do I tell which excursion costs extra?

Use the 'Included' and 'Not included' lists on the tour card. Anything not named under 'Included' and marked as optional is paid for separately.

What happens if an excursion is cancelled due to weather?

As a rule it's moved to another day or replaced with an equivalent. The guide will offer the options on site; for included excursions, reach us at 8 800 1000-646.

Can I skip part of the programme and do my own thing?

On beach tours — yes, the itinerary is flexible. On sightseeing tours you may skip a single excursion, but the group route won't change for you, and the missed part is usually non-refundable.
